At NASA International Schools, curiosity has no limits!
In celebration of World Space Week, we engaged our students in a week full of discovery, creativity, and cosmic exploration.
Morning broadcasts and in-class activities inspired students to learn more about space science and technology.
The celebration concluded with a special Star Gazing Night for Grades 6–12, where students and families gathered to explore the night sky and experience the wonder of astronomy, while our K–5 students enjoyed a fun-filled Space Costume Day during school hours.
A celebration that sparked imagination and inspired future explorers, reaching for the stars!
Inspiring Curiosity Through World Space Week Exploration
Throughout the week, students participated in engaging activities designed to deepen their understanding of space science.
These experiences cultivated scientific curiosity, encouraged creative thinking, and expanded students’ appreciation for the universe around them.
“When students explore the universe, they discover not only the stars, but their own potential.”
Interactive Learning Across All Grade Levels
From morning broadcasts to hands-on activities, students across grade levels connected with space concepts in fun and meaningful ways.
The Star Gazing Night offered older students and their families a unique opportunity to observe the night sky, while younger students enjoyed expressing their creativity through themed costumes.
World Space Week 2025
World Space Week, held annually from October 4 to 10 and designated by the United Nations, is the largest global event dedicated to promoting awareness of space, science, and technology, and their vital role in advancing humanity and improving life on Earth.
Each year features a unique theme that highlights a key aspect of space exploration. The theme for 2025 is “Living in Space.”
Purpose and Significance of World Space Week
-
The week celebrates the contributions of space science and technology to improving human life on Earth — including advancements in medicine, materials science, communications, and more.
-
It also aims to inspire younger generations to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines, by showing how space exploration expands our knowledge of the universe and drives innovation.
What SSA Did During the World Space Week?
As part of World Space Week 2025, the Saudi Space Agency carried out a range of activities to engage students, researchers, and the general public:
- Digital awareness campaign — SSA published scientific content, educational materials, and visual resources on its website and social-media channels to spread knowledge about space sciences.
-
Workshops and lectures — The agency organized space-related workshops and lectures focused on mission design, space technologies, and the science of living in space.
-
University & student involvement — Over 20 Saudi universities participated; students had the opportunity to visit SSA facilities, learn about space mission design, and engage with experts.
-
Outreach to younger audiences — Through awareness materials, educational campaigns, and inspiring messages from astronauts, SSA aimed to spark interest among school and university students in space science and future careers in the field.
Theme “Living in Space” — What It Means?
Under the 2025 theme, “Living in Space,” the focus is on:
-
Understanding how humans might live and work beyond Earth — inside space stations, spacecraft, or future extraterrestrial habitats.
-
Exploring the science and technologies necessary for sustaining life: life-support systems, protection from radiation, maintaining health under microgravity, and designing habitable environments in space.
-
Highlighting how space exploration can drive scientific discovery and innovation that benefit life on Earth, such as advancements in medicine, materials, and technology.
